Susan K. Fox, the Principal and Founder of Liberty Fiduciary Services, has more than fifteen years experience of providing direct services to vulnerable individuals.
Her first business, Senior Social Care Management, focused on “Reconnecting Seniors to a Meaningful Life.” She discovered that within this field there was a large need for reliable and committed fiduciary services, so she founded Liberty Fiduciary Services under the umbrella of Susan Joy Fox, Inc. Susan was licensed by the California Professional Fiduciary Bureau on the first day that they granted licenses, July 1, 2008.
Susan, a University of Michigan graduate, actively continued her education and earned many certifications targeted toward improved and compassionate care for seniors and individuals at risk. She holds certificates from Cal State Fullerton in Professional Fiduciary Management, Trusts, and Conservatorships. She also earned certificates from UCSD Extension in Gerontological Counseling and Program Management, Counseling and Interpersonal Skills, and Geriatric Activities. She studied Reality Therapy and attained the Advanced Certificate from Dr. William Glasser of the William Glasser Institute. She has completed a course of study in Compassionate Listening through Marshall Rosenberg’s Center for Non Violent Communication. Susan has continued adding depth to her fiduciary knowledge by completing paralegal courses at UCSD Extension in Bankruptcy; Wills, Trusts and Estate Administration; Alternative Dispute Resolution; Administrative Law; and Ethics. She had the opportunity to study Death and Dying as a course offered through West Health Care Hospice and subsequently served as a volunteer for the organization.
Susan is an active member of the community, both with regard to professional organizations and volunteer activities. She is a member of the Professional Fiduciary Association of California, the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers, the National Guardianship Association, the San Diego County Bar Association: Trust and Probate Section, and La Jolla Trust and Probate. She is a founder and group administrator of the San Diego Special Needs Trust Administration Study Group. Susan is on the Board of the San Diego Parkinson’s Disease Association. For three years she volunteered as co-facilitator of a North County Alzheimer’s support group for the Alzheimer’s Association. She also managed and expanded a homeless feeding program in San Diego that served up to 90 people daily for three years.
Susan raised two children who are college graduates. She studied Japanese flower arranging (Ikebana) for twelve years, was president of a local Ikebana organization and attained an advanced certificate granted to few foreigners. In addition to flower arranging, Susan enjoys reading, hiking and walking her dog, Shadow.
